Hallowe'en 2008

For Halloween this year, Walter had alot of ideas of what to be, but it finally boiled down to being a bus driver. And who do we know that's a bus driver. So, Walter decided to be me. The first step was growing a beard. Not exactly a small step for a two and a half year old.

The first growth while the gulag bound prisoner is awaiting morning inspection. Walter doing his best David Niven impression.

And he's happy with the outcome!

We went out for lunch that day. Can you tell who is who? The resemblance is amazing!

Finally, Byron decided to wear walter's old costume from October '06. Can you tell which one is Byron and which is Walter?

Shades

I had almost forgotten about these from this past summer. Byron had to try on the shades as did Walter when he was his age.

30 months!

Two and a half! Oh no, I'm an old man!

Side by side, the young one and the younger one.

4 whole months old!

I had forgotten to add Byron's stats to this post from his recent four month checkup. What a big boy: 14 and 1/2 pounds puts him the 50th percentile and a length of 26 inches puts him, like his big brother, in the 80th percentile. Way to go!

Four whole months old already. Byron is getting better at sitting upright by himself, but he still needs a little help from his friend, Mr. Bear.

Being October, Byron was also getting ready for Hallowe'en. He is after all, Daddy's little devil.

1st taste of rice cereal!

Not only was tonite the first occasion of Byron sitting with us at the dinner table in the high chair, but his first taste of cereal... Yummy! We hoped. Byron did look a bit jealous of Walter's plate of spaghetti.

The calm before...

Hmmm...

Ok...

Ummm... I'm not sure about this...

This may be alright...

Alright, keep shoveling it in!

Where's it all going?

Walter actually did start getting jealous and wanted his picture taken too.

I'm just glad that I have a plate of spaghetti.

Yeah, now I'm getting excited!

Thumb tastes pretty good too with rice cereal.

Now you're getting some!

The aftermath!

Alright, enough already dad!

Keep it comin'!

Taste this and tell me what it tastes like!

Apple picking

Walter, Melissa, Byron and I went apple picking at Snell's farm this afternoon. Walter loved it, Byron was noncommittal.

Walter ate his free apple au natural in the orchard.

Melissa explaining the benefits of apples while as yet toothless Byron remained unconvinced.

Trains!

Walter, who is crazy about Thomas, was hypnotized by a train set that Grammie got him some time ago. We put it together this past Sunday and Walter and I proceeded to spend two hours running the trains, switching tracks and loading freight. Thanks Grammie!

3 months!

If you look closely, you can see Byron's first real boo-boo. One exceptionally ostracized and punished cat slipped on the couch last night and scratched Byron's head. He was pretty lucky that he didn't get his eye or we'd have one less cat today. It was pretty traumatic for a minute or three, but after some peroxide and bacitracin and a nightime bandage under a sleeping cap, he's much better today.

29 months!

Walter as Superboy.

Smiling Hill Farm

Walter's new favorite place is a local dairy called Smiling Hill Farm. You can go, sit on picnic tables, watch the cows in the field and play on wooden vehicles like a train. Oh yeah, they make pretty good ice cream too.

They have a giant jeep type thing that looks more like an early Bronco...

and an airplane...

Walter at the stick looking for the Red Baron...

And they have goats!

Hi Fred!

Pre ice cream high and just post naan and hummus ecstasy...
