Back To NY, 2011- Part Ten, Travelling Through Western MA 4/30

On our way after leaving Nate's we decided to travel the backroads of western MA. We ended up travelling through a series of small villages and towns after the Westfield River and the earthen dam that can be seen in the background of the photos. M noticed WAAAAAYYYY down there a jeep on a trail near the dam! That's always a good sign that the gods are smiling down on you.

Before long the main two lane road that we were on became a smallish country road with dirt roads leading off from it, bordered by large oaks and stone walls. Felt like home and foreign at the same time. No one was around, very few houses and little traffic.

Lastly, this was shot just outside of North Adams climbing the switchback up the mountain.

Back To NY, 2011- Part Nine, Nate and Monts 4/30

On our way out of town I got together for a short while with a friend of mine in western Massachusetts to see his beautiful CJ3-A and he hooked me up with some parts. Thanks again, Nate!

Back To NY, 2011- Part Eight, A Visit With Aunt Dorothy 4/29

I hadn't seen Aunt Dorothy in years and so it was very nice to see her again as she treated us to lunch and saw the boys for the first time outside of Xmas cards.

Back To NY, 2011- Part Seven, Ft. Plain 4/29

While we were in NY we went to the Fort Plain cemetery to visit the boys' great-grandma's grave and assorted other relatives of whom the Ft. Plain cemetery is packed with. While there we found three huge stumps from trees that were cut down that had been growing atop an old mausoleum. The boys decided to ascend the mountain and we took a lot of photos.

The Ft. Plain Bakery was sadly closed as of last year. I had wanted to bring the boys there as I had gone there when I was a little boy. The sign tells a really sad truth. What WILL come next?

M took a few of these next photos including the ones of the stones.
