Byron P. Burke

Byron Pádraig Burke was born on a fine Monday morning in the city of Portland, Maine at 11.52 in the AM. He was an extremely well behaved young man who already reminds me of his namesake. Pádraig (pronounced PAW-rig, the 'd' is silent depending upon where in Eíre you are, apparently...) is Irish for Patrick, but mom and Da will undoubtedly introduce him to most strangers as Patrick to avoid confusion. Dad got to be in the operating room this time for a scheduled c-section and was able to cut the cord and not even feel woozy in the midst of so much blood. Byron celebrated the moment by immediately sending a fountain of pee into the air when placed upon the weighing station right after his birth, while dad had the requisite Guinness afterwards to celebrate. Both Mom and Da and boys are doing well. Walter is warming to his baby brother, probably already scheming the many fine practical pranks that they will play.

The auld fella calls his brother "PAW-rig"; those who pronounce the d do so with just a hint of a transient. Nice job keeping the fada.

Congratulations, Big Pete. You've two little smashers, there.
